The Russian singer promised to recover in an effusive message during the intermission of a high-definition broadcast of “Il Trovatore” at the Metropolitan Opera.
Mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick discovered opera as a 22-year-old pre-med student. She took "a crack at a singing career" and has been at the Metropolitan Opera for 25 years.
The Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky, being treated for a brain tumor, received a tumultuous ovation at his return to the Metropolitan Opera Friday evening in Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.”
Following a positive round of ongoing treatments, Dmitri Hvorostovsky looks forward to returning to the stage this month for three performances of Verdi's Il Trovatore at the Metropolitan Opera.
