Teatro Regio di Parma Names New Artistic Director

The Teatro Regio di Parma has named Allesio Vlad as its new Artistic Director. The company said that Vlad will take over the position from 2023-25.

Vlad was the artistic director of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma from 2010 to March 2023 and has worked with the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Teatro delle Muse di Ancona, Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli, and Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto. He has also worked with the Royal Opera House dell’Oman and has also served as Artistic Director of the Rete Lirica delle Marche.

He has also collaborated with legendary directors Bernardo Bertolucci, Franco Zeffirelli, Cristina Comencini, Giorgio Ferrara, and Pier Luigi Pizzi.

In a statement Michele Guerra, Mayor of Parma and President of the Fondazione Teatro Regio said, “Alessio Vlad is an Artistic Director of great experience and competence who will contribute to enriching the artistic and cultural proposal of the Fondazione Teatro Regio.”

For his part, Vlad said, “I thank Luciano Messi, Michele Guerra and the board of the Teatro Regio di Parma. I am honored to have this position that will give me the opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful theaters in the world.”
