The Glyndebourne Festival has announced a full program of the series of socially-distanced indoor performances that will take place in Sussex, starting October 10, 2020.

The Festival has announced that it will deploy a set of stringent COVID-19 safety rules, including strict social distancing, using uncirculated air to heat the auditorium, providing sanitizing stations throughout the venue, and providing personal protective equipment for the staff, among others.

The new production of “In the Market for Love,” a new version of Jacques Offenbach’s “Mesdames de la Halle,” will open the season. The opera will star Brenden Gunnell, Rupert Charlesworth, Matthew Rose, Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts, Kate Lindsey, and Nardus Williams. Ben Glassberg, Principal Guest Conductor for the Glyndebourne Tour, will conduct the production by the Glyndebourne’s Artistic Director Stephen Langridge.

Performance dates: Oct. 10 – Oct. 25, 2020

A reduced and semi-staged version of Mozart and Schikaneder’s famed singspiel “Die Zauberflöte” will spotlight Thomas Atkins, Gemma Summerfield, David Shipley, Nazan Fikret, Huw Montague Rendall, Carrie-Ann Williams, Kamilla Dunstan, Eirlys Myfanwy Davies, Brenden Gunnell, and William Thomas. Leo McFall conducts the production by Donna Stirrup.

Performance dates: Nov. 1 – Nov. 21, 2020
