The West Australian Opera in Perth has announced that it will resume its live performances with the presentation of Mozart and Da Ponte’s opera “Così fan tutte.” The production was originally performed at the Glyndebourne Festival in 2006.

The performances will take place between October 24 – 31, 2020.

In order to make the performance possible, The West Australian Opera has assembled a cast of local singers.

“Opera is a global industry with artists travelling constantly for productions and performances. This has all changed in the current COVID-19 environment and our season of  ‘Così fan tutte’ has adjusted accordingly,” the opera house stated on its official website.

“Fortunately, the pool of talent in WA is extraordinary and we are delighted to have a local cast available for WAO’s return to the stage at the home of opera, His Majesty’s Theatre,” WA Opera explained.

The cast will include Prudence Sanders in the role of Fiordiligi, Ashlyn Tymms as Dorabella, Paul O’Neill as Ferrando, Sam Roberts-Smith in the role of Guglielmo, James Clayton as Don Alfonso, and Penny Shaw as Despina.

Christopher van Tuinen will conduct the production by Nicholas Hytner. Bruno Ravella is the Revival Director.
