Vittorio Grigòlo, Gregory Kunde To Star In Royal Opera’s 2019 Japan Tour

The Royal Opera will make a return to Japan during the 2019-20 season.

The company will perform two classic works of the standard repertory including Verdi’s “Otello” and Gounod’s “Faust.” Antonio Pappano will conduct all of the performances.

“Faust” will open on tour on Sept. 12, 2019 and will feature tenor Vittorio Grigòlo in the title role. He will be joined by Rachel Willis-Sørensen as Marguerite and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as Méphistophélès. The David McVicar production will be presented in a revival by Bruno Ravella.

Performance Dates: Sept. 12, 15, 18, 22, 2019

Meanwhile, on Sept. 14, 2019, the company will showcase “Otello” with Gregory Kunde in the title role. Gerald Finley will play the villainous Iago while Hrachuhi Bassenz will be Desdemona. The company will showcase Keith Warner’s production.
