Anna Netrebko To Reprise Lady Macbeth At Metropolitan Opera

Peter Gelb has announced that Anna Netrebko is set to reprise her acclaimed interpretation of Lady Macbeth in “Macbeth” at the Metropolitan Opera.

During the Met Opera Guild Luncheon honoring Netrebko, the Met’s General Manager announced that she would take on the role during the 2019-20 season. He also hinted that the soprano would be performing the title role in Strauss’ “Salome” in the near future.

Netrebko recently concluded an acclaimed run of “Aida’ at the Met in which OperaWire noted, that Netrebko “provided unique dramatic insight” and is set to make her Carnegie Hall Recital debut. She will also open a new production of “Adriana Lecouvreur” by David McVicar on New Year’s Eve. Netrebko is also set to make her role debut as Leonora in “La Forza del Destino” at the Royal Opera alongside Jonas Kaufmann.

Netrebko made her role debut as Lady Macbeth at the Bayerische Staatsoper and followed it by runs at the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House, Mariinsky Theatre, and Berlin Staatsoper.
